Why Should I have An Inviting Attractive Driveway?

The appearance of your driveway creates an impression about your home and way of life. An inviting driveway provides a focal point as passersby and visitors approach your home. Certainly an attractive driveway, one with “curb appeal,” adds value to your home investment. With hot mix asphalt as your material – and some attention to design and construction – your driveway will provide years of lasting service and an excellent return on your investment.

What Is Hot Mix Asphalt?

It’s an engineered mixture of aggregate, or stones and sand, with liquid asphalt cement, a petroleum product. Varying sizes of aggregates are heated and then mixed, in exact proportion, with asphalt cement that has been liquefied at about 300 degrees. While the mixture is still hot, it is delivered to your driveway and paved on top of a base or subgrade that has already been prepared.

What Is Sealcoat?

Sealcoat is a mixture of emulsified asphalt, water, mineral fillers and various other mixtures. Sealcoats are applied directly to the surface of an asphalt pavement. It serves to seal the top of the asphalt, preventing water from penetrating the surface of the pavement and protecting the top layer of asphalt from oxidation and wear caused by exposure to the sun and air. Sealcoats also beautify the pavement by providing a smooth, black, and even surface. C & C Paving recommends waiting about 6 to 12 months before sealcoating new pavement to allow it time to cure.

Should I Worry About Preventive Maintenance?

Preventive maintenance means the early detection and repair of minor defects before major corrective action is necessary. Cracks and surface breaks may occur in a parking lot or driveway and should be properly maintained to ensure maximum utility. C & C Paving can assist you with deciding what method of maintenance would be best for your driveway or parking lot.
